A recent Gallup study reveals that U.S. workers are among the most stressed in the world: 83% of U.S. workers suffer from work-related stress. And it’s impacting our work (stress costs businesses and the economy trillions of dollars in absenteeism, low productivity, and healthcare costs) and our health (stress contributes to 90% of all illness and disease).

The Iowa Quality Center — in partnership with the Performance Excellence Network and the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence  — is pleased to host an online webinar discussion on Thursday, April 4: “Reducing Stress, Improving Performance.

The discussion will feature two leading experts on the neuroscience of stress: Dr. Terry Wu, Consultant & Speaker, and Shannon Murphy, CEO BrainSkills@Work. Each will have about 12-15 minutes in a “TEDtalk” format to share his/her insights and suggestions to manage stress.

Terry will start the conversation by exploring several key concepts:

  • our default way of reducing stress
  • why poor leadership is the direct cause of high stress and burnout (and what to do about it)
  • why “typical” resilience training sets us up for failure
  • what we should do – as leaders, professionals, and just people – when we are stressed out.

Shannon will then share a neuroscience-based framework to manage your state, decrease stress, and increase your leadership effectiveness.

This session is Thursday, April 4 from 8:00-9:00 CT (optional networking and mingling 7:45-8:00) using Zoom MEETING. Grab your coffee and breakfast, and join us for a rich discussion. Free for PEN/WCPE/IQC members; $20 for non-members.

Can’t make it live but interested in the content? Register anyway: all registered attendees get a link to the recording after the session!
