Team Building Print

In a team-oriented environment, all employees contribute to the overall success of the organization. Each individual works with fellow members of the organization to produce results that will benefit you personally and also sustain the mission of the organization. Even though you have a specific job function and you belong to a specific department, you are unified with other organization members to accomplish the overall objectives. The bigger picture drives your actions; your function exists to serve the bigger picture.

The Iowa Quality Center uses a group of problem solving tools and team building exercises to allow team members to experience the feeling of being part of a larger system.

Problem solving tools and facilitation skill included in the team building experience are:

  • Understanding the skills and competencies required to manage and grow a team environment
  • Building trust
  • Developing a mission statement
  • Developing a code of cooperation
  • Practicing the skills of questioning, listening, giving feedback and making presentations
  • Learning about systems thinking and how to look at a bigger picture of your organization
  • How to handle conflict
  • Moving your organization from teams to employee engagement
